Progetto Sociale is a cooperative active in Cantù since 1979, committed to promoting the well-being of the community. They offer educational, welfare and social inclusion services, focusing on the person and the territory. They work every day to build a more just, inclusive and participatory societyHousing Together: in Fino Mornasco, in via De Amicis 15 (the apartment accommodates up to a maximum of 5 people)

Available services
Inclusive gaming
Cooperativa Progetto Sociale organises three services for people suffering from senile dementia and their family members. Weekly two-hour meetings are organized with the presence of a qualified operator and one or more volunteers who propose specific individual and group activities.
The service promotes sociability, comparison and support to attending people and their families in a welcoming and informal environment.
With their aggregative spaces they also want to raise awareness and inform the community and the territory on the theme of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
They value the person with his history, his resources, his desires and his expectations.
The aggregative spaces are:
- Cantù – Service “AloisCaffè” at the Cooperative “Il Gabbiano” of Cantù, in via Baracca 58, h. 14.30-16.30
- Como -Service “Coffee on Monday” – at the Yacht Club of Como, in viale Puecher, 8
- Como – Service “Thursday Together” at the Association Asylum of Camerlata, in via Colonna, 7- h. 15.00-17.00).
The recipients of the Service are people with dementia at any stage of the disease, their family members and caregivers.

Housing
Social housing is a temporary accommodation service (18-24 months) at a reduced price, for people in vulnerable housing. Access to the Service can be through the Social Services or directly by the person. At the time of access, the host is signed the agreement and the regulations that provide for: the financial contribution to support household expenses, commitment in the management of the apartment, sharing rules and causes of interruption of the project.

Support to struggling families
The organization offers a telephone and listening point for information on services and opportunities offered by the territory, contributions and vouchers from regional measures, access to specialized services; The office also ensures reception and a first response to the needs related to the daily care of the person suffering from dementia and the support requests of family members caring for them.
The door also facilitates the meeting with the psychologist or professional educator in case of special needs by the family member, caregiver and family assistant. Following the first contact, interviews are organized in place or home visits of knowledge aimed at an initial assessment of the need and orientation to territorial services (e.g. municipal SAD, nurse’s office, day care centres, home-based educational interventions, aggregative spaces). The information and guidance desk also provides service operators or referrals from local associations.

Community/educational shelter
In close collaboration with the local social services and the child protection authority, the institution takes care of children who live in situations of temporary removal from their family.
They design and implement educational and management interventions in residential structures, within which children and young people can build their own path of growth and can find an environment capable of accommodating their needs.
Through everyday life, we promote moments of care, socialization, education and above all – through the experimentation of the relationship with the operators – restoration of relationships with family members.
